BEIJING: China may hold court proceedings over the Internet.
Criminal cases will be adjudicated using artificial intelligence equipment through the court's chatting apps. This new model justice system, called cybercourt, is in Hangzhou. The locals call it the Internet Court.
The litigant will appear before the judge via video chat. What is special, though, is that the judge is not a judge, but an artificial intelligence. It is created based on technology.
Online business-related lawsuits and copyright infringement cases are most often filed in ECybercourt, and the court's ruling in most cases is out. In 2017, this Court came to existance. To date, over 1.18 lakh cases have been filed in this Court. Of these, 88,401 cases have been completed.
